Welcome to the August edition of the PEM e-Newsletter!
CLB Media is pleased to announce that it will publish Resource Engineering & Maintenance (REM) magazine in October. REM will be a great addition to the PEM
editorial family. The new publication will serve as an information
source for engineers and maintenance managers working in Canada's oil
and gas, mining and aggregate industries. We look forward to the first

CLB Media launches new magazine for resource sector
AURORA, ON—Resource Engineering & Maintenance (REM)
debuts in October 2008 as Canada's only maintenance and engineering
publication serving the oil and gas, mining and aggregate industries.
This new publication, Web site and digital edition will address the
specific challenges that engineers and maintenance managers face
maintaining critical equipment and facilities that support Canada's
resource sector in the oil and gas, mining and aggregate industries.

PEM Motors & Drives Handbook
The digital edition of the PEM Motors & Drives Handbook
is now available. Industry expert Ken Bannister leads things off with a
great article on how to prevent motor and gearbox failures. Also find
out how to choose the right lubricant to reduce gearbox downtime. This
is the first in a series of PEM digital handbooks,
which will be introduced as a learning and education tool for
maintenance professionals, engineers and plant operations.

Important battery tips
TAMPA, FL—As
we all know, the tester is powered by a six-volt battery for testing.
As the sole power source, care should be taken to ensure maximum life
and capacity of the battery. The manufacturer recommends that the
batteries are run through a refresh cycle after every fifth charge.

PTDA prepares for younger workers
CHICAGO, IL—The
Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) recognizes there
will soon be turnover at the top of most of its members' companies and,
to get the next generation ready, recently convened a Next Generation
Task Force. The task force will develop programs, products, services
and opportunities to assist the new leaders in the power
transmission/motion control industry as they begin to take over the
reins at their companies.
