Fort McMurray to host maintenance, reliability and physical asset management event for oil sands, resource and process industries

FORT MCMURRAY, ALTA. July 28, 2010 – For the first time, a national training event designed for maintenance and reliability professionals and practitioners will arrive in the heart of the oil sands when MainTrain arrives in Fort McMurray, Alberta September 15-17, 2010.

MainTrain is a series of regional learning and networking events developed and produced by the Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada (PEMAC) that have been bringing world-class speakers and presenters together from coast to coast for more than six years. It's the first time the event takes place in the world of the intensive physical asset industries in the oil sands and process industries.

''Until now, maintenance and reliability experts have had to leave Fort McMurray to access this type of world-class training and learning,'' stated Amin Elsherif, President of the PEMAC Fort McMurray chapter. ''Now the training is coming to us. Our local experts will present their findings along with international experts widely recognized as the industry's thought leaders.''

The conference is designed with flexibility in mind to allow those working in the oil, gas, mining, process and facilities sectors to access one, two or three days of sessions. There are also exhibitors from leading providers showcasing the latest maintenance technology and tools.

Speakers include Jim Dardis, reliability engineer at Suncor Energy; Ray Floyd, senior vice-president at Suncor Energy; industry guru Terry Wireman; PEMAC President and maintenance champion Brian Malloch; leading maintenance trainer Joel Levitt, president at Springfield Resources; and many more.
