Dear Reader,

Welcome to the October edition of the Green Business e-newsletter.

A few people have asked me whether I think the recent economic ups and downs will affect companies' enthusiasm for going green. I don't believe it will. In fact, I think financial challenges will just make Canadian companies more innovative and keener to make their operations leaner and more energy efficient. But companies clearly have a long way to go, as was evident at this year's ENEX08 conference and trade show. For coverage of the show, check out the video and feature below.

As always, I welcome your comments on anything you see here and hope that you contact me at rcolman@clbmedia.ca.

Warmest regards,
Robert Colman

Breaking the ''green'' myth with date centre upgrades
By Dr. Albert Esser

Business decision makers have been relatively slow to embrace environmentally friendly practices, mistakenly assuming that they must subject their companies to similar sacrifices—that ''greening'' their companies is costly, and thus bad for business. Most businesses want to adopt green practices but the perception that going green means spending more often stops them from adopting environmentally friendly alternatives. Such assumptions couldn't be further from the truth.
