Welcome!
Print maintains role as source for design engineers as digital content options offer innovation
In
a recent survey, a major test and measurement
OEM recently discovered that design engineers still trust the
printed page over online offerings when conducting certain
research.
We at DPN are committed to the print edition of the
magazine, but want to be able to deliver the same
quality of information faster in new, creative ways that mesh with your
reading patterns. Certainly digital content gives us a chance
to be innovative in the kind of rich media you may already be
consuming from other sources, such as video and 3D part models.
Glance over to the right below and you'll see a list of
stories deep-linked directly to their pages inside the
current digital edition version of our print publication
(now in its 37th year). And with the current digital
edition, DPN is launching "Bonus" coverage available
only in this format that offers more stories and
products in the Mechanical CAD and Motion Control
disciplines.
A new feature inside the digital edition of DPN is the live
"Interactive" label on the navigation bar. ALL video and
DPN 3D linked pages are accessible here, allowing to you to experience the "digital-only" content with a minimum of fuss.
Bonus Video coverage!
During the recent Festo International Press Conference in
Amsterdam (link
to coverage), editors were exposed to how Festo technology was
being incorporated in agricultural material handling
equipment developed in The Netherlands.
Also included at the conference were
presentations on agricultural machinery for the harvesting
and peeling of white asparagus by two German-based
automation companies. Click on the images below for this
bonus video coverage below demonstrates the creativity of
these two firms:
Hepro
automated asparagus peeling machine using Festo
components holds the vegetable with air-filled silicon
bellows, then employs six pairs of stainless steel cutters
(left) to perform 12 cuts that create a complete and even
result.
AI-Solution
“Spargel Panther” harvester containing Festo
components permits three asparagus ridges to be harvested in
parallel, or up to 950 stalks per hour.
