Welcome
!
Delcam lets you test drive its
CAD modeler indefinitely with free PowerShape-e download
Zoom,
zoom. That's what Delcam would like you to do with its free "industrial strength" PowerShape-e CAD modeler.
PowerShape-e (powershape-e.com) brings together an integrated software
platform for solid modeling, surface modeling, triangle modeling, reverse
engineering and decoration techniques. At a recent press briefing in
Chicago, Stuart Watson, CAD Development
Manager for PowerShape at Delcam (delcam.ca), said the software is a hybrid modeler that
"combines solid modeling with the flexibility of surface modeling. That's
why a lot of products are boxes with rounded corners – their shapes expose
the limitation of traditional solid modeling CAD packages."
The freeware permits enterprise-wide model sharing, including mark-up,
editing and security. Watson added that the modeler is structured to allow
for "whole body" edits on solid models, has an intelligent cursor for
constant feedback and provides automated Smart Surfacing pop-ups that also
show the designer options to scroll through.
The download has a catch, however: although saving files is
completely free, exporting them to other applications and devices is charged at US$350 per
model.
Naturally, you can buy the software (PowerShape release 7) if you
like what you see and want to avoid ongoing charges.
